The US Embassy in India has introduced new rules for slot booking, effective from January 1, 2025.
According to the updated guidelines:
- Applicants can schedule their initial appointment and reschedule it once for free.
- However, if an applicant misses the appointment or fails to attend the biometric or interview session, they will be required to pay the fee again.
The updated rules have been applied retroactively
This means the fee covers both the first and second appointments. If an applicant needs to reschedule beyond the specified limit or has missed an appointment even in previous months, they will be required to pay the fee again.
